If only the holy spirit was a hit man

Recently Pat Robertson "famed" evangelical speaker, has been back tracking on comments he made about assassinating Venezuelan President Chavez.

"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out,'" Robertson said on his show. "'Take him out' could be a number of things including kidnapping."

I love old people. :-)

Samantha,

Forgive me for getting all serious on you this once please. As a Born again Christian who knows what he believes, why he believes it, and is prepared to defend it things like this bother me a great deal. I take my faith very seriously and I can tell you that what Pat Robertson said is not in line with the Bible or it's teachings. It is sad that the Church for the last few years has been soiled by leaders who don't seam to understand either the person of Jesus Christ who they claim to follow or the fact that they represent him whenever they speak and so should be cautious to tailer their words in a fashion befitting a representative of Christ. Instead they do the opposite expressing personal bias and behaving in manners that are most inappropriate for their office and then the media gets a hold of it and sends it out to the whole world who then look at Christians as a whole as hippacrits and kooks. I get so discouraged some times watching this spiral that leaves people hopeless and rejecting proveable truth because those in highly visible positions forget or misrepresent the very reason that they have risen into the visible positions. As for my statements about provability and my own stance I'm going to do something very uncharacteristic of me and should anyone wish to discuss it I'm going to give my email address. Reffnerc@gmail.com I dont want to take over samanthas blog with this.

Ok back to your usual fun loving lumpy.

I would agree that Pat Robertson, one crazy old dude, shouldn't represent the sensible Christians out there, especially when he says outrageous things like that. OTH, what is scary is how many people actually listen to him on his "700 Club" uncritically and accept what he says as true. Kudos to The Lumpy for disagreeing with Crazy Old Man Pat. (Although in general, I fail to see how a BAC feels a need to "prove" their "faith." But that's a whole 'nother ball o' wax.) -Tom
